Meet the Team

Balmoral Veterinary Services have a highly skilled and experienced team to ensure that your pet has the best care possible.

Suzanne Craig

Suzanne Craig is a fully qualified veterinary surgeon with 26 years’ experience. This includes 13 years in the UK dealing with a huge variety of species and a wide variety of problems.

Suzanne is born and bred in South Otago and is married to Richard, of Richard Schofield Photography. They have a daughter, Annie to keep them busy. Between them they are proud parents of Bob, Tess and Domino - a lovely tabby cat with a Garfield outlook on life, a mad German Shepherd that is totally terrorised by Bob, and a young white and black puss who is Annie's girl!

Marion Proudfoot

Hi, my name is Marion. I am a qualified vet nurse and have been for 15 years now. I have worked as a vet nurse both in NZ and Australia, having spent a number of years travelling. I really enjoy my work and don’t find it a problem getting up in the mornings. When not at work, I spend my time with my partner and being a fantastic mum to 2 boys. A lot of our time is spent outdoors – camping for a weekend is our favourite thing!

Pauline McLaren

Pauline joined our crew in October 2014, and has been the face behind the reception desk since.

She and her husband. Miles, share responsability for Fergus and Tammy - two lovely Border Collies.

Jennel McKenzie

Originally joining us in December 2013 to groom, Jennel also did a stint at reception.

However, the lure of her grooming proved too much - as did the number of grooms she was having to do! So now she comes in three days a week to help keep the dogs of South Otago looking beautiful.

The rest of the time she looks after her family - Ryan, Maia and Ben - and her two fur babies - Billy and Frank - two Fox Terriers.

Sarah Cragg

Sarah has returned from travelling in Europe and working in the UK in Feb 2017. Along with her husband, Dan, she has settled in Balclutha with their cat Lola.  They are looking forward to expecting their first baby this December.  Sarah enjoys all aspects of small animal work but is particularly pleased to be working with the New Zealand working dogs again.

Sarah joins us one or two days a week, to allow for an expansion of our work load and maybe allow Suzanne a bit of down time! The rest of her time is spent working in Gore.

 Annie Schofield

Annie has been helping out with reception on Saturday mornigns since Oct 2016. Prior to this she assisted in looking after the cattery when it was busy.

Annie goes to South Otago High School and is the proud mother of Domino (mentioned above).
